THE Daventry Darts League held the Dennis Mytton memorial knockout tournament this week - an annual competition held in memory of a former league stalwart.
The event was to raise charity funds for the Danetre Hospital cardiac rehab unit.
A total of 28 players took part at Daventry Working Men’s Club and there were some shock exits early on.
Former league singles winners Rich Denis and Ray Jones were among those who failed to make it to the quarter finals.
In the last eight there were wins for Wadey over Bully, Ian Bow over Andy T, Burtie over Paul Butler and Rich Ludlow over Hemps.
The semi-finals were best of five legs and here there were wins for Wadey 3-0 over Ian Bow and Burtie 3-1 over Rich Ludlow, with both winners showing much better form on the doubles.
The final was a best of seven legs encounter and it was Wadey who got off to a great start by taking the first two legs.
Burtie hit back to take the third leg but Wadey proved the more consistent player and took out the doubles to take the next two legs for a 4-1 win overall to be crowned the 2012 champion.
Along with entry fees, a raffle took place to raise money for charity and a total of £180 was raised. The league have added £70 to make a total of £250.
Thanks were expressed to all who supported this event for a very good cause.
