Bowlers celebrate impressive victory

THE visitors this week for a men’s six-rink game were the Northamptonshire Hononary Vice-Presidents’ Bowling Association and Daventry recorded another fine win 123-104.

The game was the first for new member Mike Robbins.

The highest-winning rink for Daventry was Alf Macari, Ken Faulkner, John Sach and Tony Dicks winning 30 shots to five against Roy Cave.

This is Alf’s third highest-winning rink win of the season.

Other rink scores with opposition skips names only were: Ken Garlick, John Shanahan, George Clifton and Geoff Allen 24 Dave Williamson 13. Steve Dick, Bernard McPike, Bryon Tonks and John Duke 19 B Tihele 18.

In the County Ladies’ Atherley Trophy competition which was played at Daventry, Northamptonshire Ladies lost out to Lincolnshire by 10 shots despite holding the lead during most of the game. The final score was 123-113.

In the Inter Area Final of the Champion of Champions, Tony Dicks was beaten by Mark Atkins (Malvern Hills) 11-21. Tony was praised for a great run in this competition.
