Athletes get their deserved rewards

DAVENTRY Athletic Club held their annual presentation evening at Stefen Hill Sports Club on Friday.

Guest presenter was Mel Nicholls, a finalist in the 200m T34 wheelchair category at the London 2012 Paralympics.

Mementos were presented by club president, Roy Fenn, to Kieran Russ, Sam Meyler and Matt Clarke in recognition of their achievement of winning the English Schools’ U17 Men’s Octathlon team title.

Special trophies were also presented to Niklas Aarre (Best Male Thrower 2009-2012) and to Kieran Russ (Best Male Sprinter 2009-2012).

Other award winners were: Female Middle Distance - Paige Hobbs, Male Middle Distance - Jack Bond, Female Thrower - Megan Owen, Male Thrower - Kieran Russ, Female Sprinter - Emily Sanderson, Male Sprinter - Connor Aldridge, Male Jumper - Sam Meyler, Female Jumper - Megan Owen.

Most Improved Athlete - Sam Meyler, Best Newcomer - Megan Owen, Club Person - Brian Cooney, Top Points Scorer Women - Angelia Cooney, Top Points Scorer Men - James Best.

Top Points Scorer U/17 Girls’ - Emily Sanderson, Top Points Scorer U/17 Boys’ - Sam Meyler.

Under 13 awards: 
Girl Sprinter, Jumper and Thrower - Emily Sanderson, Girl Middle Distance - Cleo Martin-Evans, Boy Sprinter and Thrower - Joe Stewart, Boy Jumper - Leon Martin-Evans, Boy Middle Distance - Kit Moysen.

Best U11 Girl - Cleo Martin-Evans, Best U11 Boy - Kit Moysen.

A total of 48 certificates of achievement were also presented to the club’s younger athletes.
