DAVENTRY Town Bowls Club had a busy week with two men’s matches and two ladies’ games within three days.

Daventry Town “B” 78 Heyford 40

Firstly the men’s “B” team played a Middleton Wholesale Knockout Cup game at home to Heyford. This competition is not decided on the number of winning rinks, but on the team with the highest number of shots which Daventry “B” secured with a (78-40) score.

Daventry Town Ladies 30 Kingsthorpe Ladies “A” 13

The ladies entertained Kingsthorpe “A” in the Northampton Ladies’ Friday Triples League.

Kingsthorpe “A” were top of Division One having won their first two games, but Daventry ladies turned out to be too strong on the night, winning with a very impressive 30-13 scoreline.

After a very quick turnaround the ladies turned out again to compete in the NWCBA Top Club knockout competition, entertaining Burton Latimer B.C.

Daventry Town Ladies just missed out in a very competitive match in the second round of the NWCBA Top Club knockout competition.

This competition is decided by the team playing four different games at the same time. The winner is decided by who has the most points.

With both teams winning two disciplines apiece the match came down to points scored, which meant that Burton Latimer, having scored one more point than Daventry, progressed to the next round.

Banbury Chestnuts 69 Daventry Town 112

Daventry Town Men played Banbury Chestnuts in a six-rink triples friendly and came away with a very impressive 112-69 win – winning five of the six rinks played.

Michael Moulton’s rink won the highest-winning rink (26-6). Banbury Chestnuts’ highest-winning rink was skippered by C.Taylor (20-10) with J.Duncan lead and E.Hilton playing number two.
