LADIES HOCKEY: Arnull strike earns share of the spoils for Buckby

Long Buckby IIs battled hard to claim a creditable 1-1 draw in their rearranged league game against Rugby & East Warwickshire IIIs.

Buckby started off strongly dominating the game and creating several chances.

Their continuous efforts were duly rewarded as Linda Cooper broke down the wing supported by Amanda Becker, and they set up Abbie Arnull to score.

Rugby battled back but Holly Singleton made a string of saves to keep it at 1-0.

Buckby had more chances in the second half, but failed to take them, while at the other endfantastic defending by Sarah O’Donovan and Kath Kates ensured Rugby could not find a way through.

However, Rugby increased the pressure and capitalised on a short corner to secure a goal and level the scores.

Both sides pushed for a winner, but it never came.

This was a strong effort by Buckby, with good support and excellent linking up to push forward and create opportunities. Player of the match was Linsey Belford.
