King and his fellow coaching staff are bidding to mastermind a treble, with Northampton still involved in the LV= Cup and Amlin Cup as well as being top of the Aviva Premiership.

They face league games against Newcastle and Gloucester before taking on Saracens in an Anglo-Welsh semi-final clash, and there is also an European game at Sale on the horizon.

King is happy to have so many games on the schedule and believes it is a good way to keep people firing.

“It’s a lot of hard work and testament to the squad Jim (Mallinder) has put together,” said the Saints attack coach. “Everyone’s contributed, whether that’s in the league, whether that’s in the Heineken Cup or in the LV= Cup.

“We’re still in three competitions, which is great for the squad. It keeps everyone involved. We’re not going to be able to play the same guys week in, week out.

“We’re got two games then an LV= Cup semi-final and hopefully a final the week after. Then we’re back into the league and Amlin straight after.

“It’s an exciting final few months of the season, it’s where we want to be and we’ve got to keep the hard work going and keep learning.”
