Junior rugby

HAVING won the Land Rover Cup at the Saints the visit across the border to Leicester Lions saw the Long Buckby U11s continue the good work shown all season.

The boys’ first match was against a Market Bosworth side with a reputation of playing good rugby.

But nobody told the Buckby side of this reputation and right from the start good tackling and accurate rucking drove the opposition back.

Buckby were able to build up the phases eventually breaking down a resolute Market Bosworth.

Although the back scored the tries it was an massive forward performance that drove the team forward for Buckby’s first win of the morning.

A complete change of pack and Buckby took on hosts Leicester Lions.

The new forwards took up the challenge and were able to continue to provide good ball.

Cai was busy at scrum-half and it took time to break a spirited Lions’ side.

The tries eventually came and a second win was in the bag.

The final game again against Market Bosworth saw the forwards creating a great platform for the back and the side went on to achieve three wins out of three.
