Hollowell finish top in Anglian Water Series

Cransley Sailing Club hosted the final event in this year’s Anglian Water Series.

More than 80 young sailors have participated so far in this Series, which sees youngsters from across the region compete in a variety of classes.

This year has seen a larger variety of boats sailed by the youngsters which include not just the obvious Optimists, Toppers and Lasers but also Bugs, RS Fevas, RS Teras, Picos and even the odd 29er.

In the Fast Fleet, Hollowell’s Izzy King managed to keep pace with Northampton’s Baz Hill and just pipped him for first while Hollowell’s Caitlin Jones was third. Teddie Middleton-Smith, another Hollowell sailor, claimed fourth position.

In the Topper Fleet, Hollowell’s Georgia King finished a worthy third.

There were also good mid-fleet finishes for Hollowell’s Andrew Sturt, Morgan Smith and Ben Caldwell.

Overall, Hollowell Sailing Club tops the table.

They are first in the overall Series (Izzy King) with a further five other sailors (Georgia, Caitlin, Mike, Niall and Andrew Sturt) in the top 10.

In the overall Fast Fleet Series, Hollowell sailors finished in the top three positions. The club also took second in the overall series for the Topper fleet (Georgia King) and first in the overall series in the Slow Fleet (Niall Holman).
