Heavy rain hits village matches

BARBY’S weekend games were washed out after a promising start.

Barby faced Warwick CC in both first and second team fixtures.

The first team travelled to Warwick and batted first reaching 41-0 off 13 overs when the rain came.

Loz Mead was going well on 26 not out.

Although there were some breaks in the weather the teams never got out again.

The square was unable to drain the rain water and the game was therefore abandoned.

The second team fixture saw first in the league take on second.

However the weather intervened with Warwick on 44-0 off 15 overs and the match was abandoned.

This result saw Barby remain in second but other completed results meant that their lead over the third-placed team was cut.

The Sunday fixture against Heckley was also abandoned.
