Tom Wood is also in the squad as he takes his place on the replacements bench, but there is no room in the 23 for Teimana Harrison.

England are targeting a record 18th Test win in a row, are also aiming to take another step towards completing back-to-back Grand Slams, and the Calcutta Cup is also up for grabs.

“It’s the oldest international fixture and it means a lot to both countries,” said England head coach Eddie Jones.

“I feel honoured and humbled to be part of such a historic occasion. I treasure the experience.”

Jones has made three changes to the starting line-up that saw off Italy a fortnight ago, but Billy Vunipola has been named on the bench.

The Saracens man made his comeback from a knee injury last weekend, but Nathan Hughes will continue in the position in an unchanged England pack.

The changes all come in the backline, with scrum-half Ben Youngs, centre Jonathan Joseph and wing Jack Nowell returning.

Saints hooker Hartley has again been named captain, but the team will be led on to the field by Joe Marler as he wins his 50th cap.

“We’re focused on ourselves,” said Jones. “We want to give our fans a really good performance.

“We’ve worked hard in this Six Nations and feels like a good performance is just around the corner.”
