Fantastic shots from Finn and Ben went close, before Cameron collected the ball just past the halfway line, ran at the defence and powered a shot past the keeper. After 17 minutes it was 2-0, with Dan W blasting a penalty home. Long Buckby refused to lie down and got a goal back to make it 2-1. The second half was a strong, physical battle, with both sides having chances to score, but the scoreline remained the same.

This was swiftly followed by his second which was a super solo effort. On the stroke of half time, man-of-the match Johnny Fletcher scored his first goal for the team to make it 3-0. Saxons scored their fourth goal early in the second half when Taylor teed up Charlie Trayford. At 4-0, Saxons took their foot off the pedal and allowed Blisworth back into the game by conceding two soft goals. Blisworth sensed the possibility of a remarkable comeback, but Joe Pursey and Alex Smith defended well to keep it at 4-2.

Vikings stunned by second-half collapse

Oliver Starling’s two goals weren’t enough to stop Daventry Town Vikings Under-12s from a heavy defeat against Bilton Ajax.

In the second half, Daventry thought they had the game in the bag but Bilton had other ideas and six second-half goals sealed a 7-3 win.

Brown’s the boy as Daventry march on

Daventry Town Under-13s continued their 100 per cent record with a 4-1 victory against Bilton.

Team: Jack Gilbert, Jack Ramsden, Harry Norton, Jordan Drew, James Davey, Min Promjit, Oskar Challice, Blaine Chatwin, Ben Robinson, Jamie Holmes, Archie Martin, Tom Brown, Shaun Bragg

Report: The first half was tightly contested with plenty of chances for Daventry which were well defended by Bilton. Daventry’s keeper Jack Ramsden pulled off three one-on-one saves while the back line of James, Harry, Min, Jack Gilbert and Jordan ensured that the half time score was 0-0. Early in the second half the deadlock was broken when Shaun tapped in and this was soon followed by two well-taken goals from Tom. Bilton pulled a goal back towards the end but any worries of a comeback were ended by a superb header from Blaine.
