Daventry Town Saxons Under-12s secured their first league victory of the season with a hard fought 3-1 home win over FFA.

Report: Josh Adams opened the scoring with a wonderful looping header from Luke Barker-Poole’s corner. Adams then turned provider for Saxons’ second, with a perfectly weighted through ball for Taylor Noel to finish. Charlie Trayford tested the FFA goalkeeper at the start of the second half with a dipping volley, that was tipped over the crossbar.

FFA pulled a goal back when a wind-assisted cross deceived Decklyn Hartley in goal.

Saxons lived dangerously and lacked composure at times, but clung on and made the game safe right at the end when Trayford played in Noel, who made it 3-1.

Kaye does the trick for Vikings

Promotion hopefuls Daventry Town Vikings were impressive 6-3 winners against Hackleton Harriers Red, with Ben Kaye scoring a hat-trick.

Report: Daventry took advantage of the wind at their backs during the first half and took the lead after six minutes through Cameron Waldock. Half-way through the first half Daventry scored a quick double with a volley from Ben Kaye, and a brilliant individual effort from Waldock. Shortly before half-time a Kaye corner was fumbled by the goalkeeper with the wind doing the rest to help the ball into the net, and it was 4-0 at half-time. Hackleton started the second half well and with wind behind them they scored two quick goals. With 15 minutes left Vikings won a penalty which Reagan Gibson coolly slotted home to make it 5-2. This settled the nerves and Kaye, who was named man of the match. completed his hat-trick just before the end.

Six unbeaten for in-form Daventry

Daventry Town Vikings Under-14s extended their unbeaten run to six with a 4-1 win over Parklands.

Report: The early pressure was from Parklands and only a tip over the bar from keeper Jack Ramsden prevented them from taking the lead.However Daventrys midfield of Ben Robinson, Harry Norton, James Davey, Archie Martin was excellent all game and it was good work from Blaine Chatwin that led to Tom Brown scoring the opening goal. Excellent Daventry defending from Luke Hill, George Price, Jack Gilbert and Jordan Caygill kept Parklands at bay for most of the game, but a well-taken goal led to Parklands equalising. Just before the break Shaun Bragg restored the lead , knocking in a free kick. After the break further goals from Jamie Holmes and Greg Fisher secured all threepoints.
