William Parker seal shock win over leaders

LEAGUE leaders Davcelona suffered a shock defeat against bottom-placed William Parker in a nail-biting game in the Soccer Sixes League.

Mark Fletcher got William Parker off to a fantastic start putting them in a two-goal lead.

Davcelona looked stunned for a period of time but managed to pull themselves back into the game with a superb finish from James Osbourne.

Davcelona applied pressure and equalised just before the end of the half. William Parker scored two more goals in quick succession.

Luke Ireland pulled a goal back for Davcelona bringing them within one goal with only five minutes to go.

But Mark Fletcher on the counter attack scored his second of the night to give Willaim Parker the victory and their first win of the season.

Next up was Pen Island who came out on top with a 5-3 win against Daventry Olympic. Man of the match was Kevin Moore for his inspiring performance in midfield helping assist in four of the five goals.

In the final game Coach and Horses had the opportunity to take over at the top of the league. They required a victory over The Dons to move one point clear.

After a confident start, Dan Clarke scored two goals thanks to good team work. Aaron Crampton continued for Coach and Horses making the score 3-1 at the half-time.

After the break and a change of tactics The Dons top goalscoer Scott Perkins responded with an impressive set piece which ended up in the back of the net.

This lifted the team’s spirits and with no response from Coach and Horses, The Dons scored two more goals from Scott Perkins and James Talyor to put them in front for the first time in the game.

Dan Clarke then put away his hat-trick and salvaged a point for Coach and Horses.

This left the league wide open after the Christmas pedriod with everything to play for.

The top three teams all share the same amount of points with The Dons only threee points behind and in fine form.

It has set the New Year up for a very exciting period.
