Drayton Grange continued their stay at the top of the Daventry & District Sunday Vets League, and enhanced their goal difference with a 7-0 win over GE Rugby.

After a goalless 30 minutes, Grange struck through a well directed Richard O’Malley free kick swiftly followed by the first Pete Aldridge goal gave Grange a 2-0 half time lead.

Further goals by Paul Atkins, Andrjez Bajek, Pete Aldridge and Baz Mistry put Grange 6-0 up.

The scoring was completed with a composed finish by Craig Ballard.

Mention must be made of a wonderful save by Grange’s first half keeper, Craig Waugh, when the score was 0-0.

The league chairman, Garry Roche, was the official in charge and he had a much quieter game than his last one at Mayfield.

Grange welcome last year’s double winners, AEI Rugby, to Mayfield on Sunday.
