Long Buckby claimed their first point of the UCL Premier Division season as they drew 1-1 with Sileby Rangers at Station Road on Saturday.

Sileby took a first-half lead on 22 minutes through Will Muzvimbiri, and the scoreline was still the same going into the final 10 minutes.

But Buckby’s perseverance paid off when Karlos Augustine netted a volley against his former club to make it 1-1.

Dan Stewart’s men then very nearly claimed all three points, but Wes Emery’s free-kick rattled the crossbar.

The point wasn’t enough to lift Sileby off the bottom of the table, but they are not just one point behind second-from-bottom Oadby, with 17th-placed Wisbech onlyt three points better off.

On Saturday, Buckby are back on the road as they travel to mid-table Newport Pagnell, who have claimed seven points from their six fixtures to date.
