The three Northampton Town players that missed the club’s game at Bristol Rovers on Saturday will remain sidelined for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy trip to Milton Keynes Dons.
Town head to stadium:mk on Tuesday night (7.45pm kick-off) without left-back Joe Widdowson (hamstring) and Ian Morris (groin), who are also only rated as 50-50 chances for the league game against Scunthorpe on Saturday.
Danny Emerton rejoined training on Monday after making a partial recovery from a bout of food poisoning that saw him miss the trip to Bristol.
Roy O’Donovan is suspended after being sent off at the weekend, freeing up a space in the forward line that could be taken by Ivan Toney, with whom the club are currently holding talks over a professional contract.
Clive Platt is likely to remain in the starting line-up to build his fitness after a spell out of the team with a calf injury.
The Cobblers have already played MK Dons this season - losing 2-1 at home in the first round of the Capital One Cup in August.
