Goals from James Tricks and Aaron King gave Daventry Town a surprise 2-0 win on Saturday at play-off chasing Hanwell Town in Division One Central of the Southern League.
Tricks set the Purple Army on their way with the opening goal on 21 minutes.
Anthony O’Connor was the archiect as used his pace to get around two players, take the ball to the by line and tee up Tricks who slotted home, via a deflection and the post.
Town lost key defender Arron Parkinson to injury before half-time, but continued to impress and wrapped up the win through King, who was making his debut after signing from Bedford Town, in the 70th minute.
A free kick was awarded out on the left. Simon King’s cross was met by the unmarked Ryan Howell at the far post. He headed the ball across goal where King smashed the ball into the roof of the net.
