AFC CASEY’S suffered a setback in the Rugby and District Sunday League Division One when they went down at The Prince of Wales of Rugby.

Casey’s have started 2015 reallty well, but were on the wrong end of the 3-1 scoreline at the weekend.

Casey’s were decimated with both injuries and unavailability through work commitments and late withdrawals.

They were forced to field just the bare 11, including players having few if any previous appearances for the club.

The home side took an early lead forcing home a free kick after a controversial back pass decision.

However, Casey’s to their credit forced their way into the game with Rich Mansell rolling back the years, returning to his midfield role alongside Leigh Roberts and Lee Tozer.

The non-stop running of Chris Trill supported by Liam Fuller created the opportunity for Leigh Roberts to grab the equaliser from close range shortly before the interval.

The second half saw the normally efficient finisher Trill create two superb goal scoring opportunities with his dribbling skills, only to see them saved, as were efforts from Lee Tozer.

Prince of Wales weathered the storm and scored two late goals as the lack of match fitness took its toll on Casey’s non regular players.

However there was no doubting the team’s effort and commitment, with this performance including great defensive performances from Tom Consentino,Scott Marklew, andTony Burkett.
