AFC Casey’s maintained their unbeaten run in the Rugby & District Sunday League Group One Hospitals Cup with a 5-1 win over Rugby Rocketts.
Casey’s are now on collision course with formidable opponents Barley Mow in the final fixture.
Both teams are unbeaten in this group stage and only the top team qualifies.
Casey’s stormed to a 4-0 lead in the first half against battling second division outfit Rocketts thanks to a double from Matty Farrell and singles from Ben Hyams and Stuart Clarke.
The second half started badly for Casey’s. They conceded almost from the kick off and rarely found any sort of rhythm until Rocketts started to tire. Josh Hyams then slotted home a late strike.
In the Rugby & District Sunday League Division Two, Casey’s Reserves were beaten 6-3 by Prince of Wales.
Wales raced into a 3-0 lead before Jareth Conway pull a goal back for Casey’s on the stroke of half time.
Casey’s battled brilliantly, and goals from Sam Burke and another from Conway levelled the match at 3-3.
But a tiring Casey’s conceded three late goals as the visitors brought on fresh legs.
Tonight, Casey’s face Bishops Itchington in the quarter finals of the Byfield Bethal Cup at Woodford United FC (ko 7.30pm) and on Sunday they travel to Woodlands.
Casey’s Reserves entertain table toppers Dunchurch at Staverton Park on Sunday (ko 11am).
