AFC Casey’s eased to a 3-0 win at Avon Mill of Rugby in a Rugby Hospitals Cup Group Four match.
Casey’s group sees them in alongside The Webb, Bayern Half Moon and Long Lawford as well as Avon Mill.
Mill are going well in the Rugby & District League Division Two, and Casey’s were without a number of players through injury and unavailability.
That could have led to an upset, but it didn’t.
Kevin Eales normally in defence partnered captain Stuart Clarke in the centre of midfield, and the solid duo were supported by Leigh Roberts and Josh Hyams on the flanks.
Mill defended stubbornly restricting strikers Chris Trill and Richard Rogers few opportunities.
It took an ill timed challenge on Clarke to get a breakthrough late in the first half with a resulting penalty cooly executed by Clarke himself.
The home side did more attacking in the second half, but this gave Casey’s more opportunities to increase their lead.
And Clarke once showed the strikers how to do it with an unstoppable drive from just outside the box.
Full-back Liam Fuller attacking full back was unlucky with an equally venemous drive but the keeper managed to divert it for a corner and Richard Rogers went close with two superb headers.
Trill eventually sealed the win for Casey’s with a superbly taken volley to extend their unbeaten run in this competition.
However, with Bayern Half Moon and top of the league Long Lawford still to play, Casey’s still have plenty of work to do to get to the last four of this competition.
