Injuries and unavailability means Casey’s fielded a very young team for their trip to Yelvertoft in the Rugby & District Sunday League Division One.
To their credit, the team turned in an excellent performance to claim a 3-3 draw.
This match could have swung either way, with Casey’s taking an early lead, but then needing a late equaliser to grab a point.
Liam Fuller unleashed an unstoppable drive to give Casey’s an early lead but the home side fought back and went 2-1 ahead.
A key moment in this end-to-end game came with Yelvertoft leading 2-1.
The home side were awarded a soft penalty, but it was saved by Tom Consentino.
Matty Farrell equalised for Casey’s early on in the second half, but the home side again took the lead.
Casey’s then produced a late revival with battling performances by Will Sheridan,Joe Kasongo,Leigh Roberts and Matty Farrell all featuring. A superb headed goal from Farrell provided the equaliser and the home side held out as Casey’s finished strongly.
This week Casey’s are at home to last season’s promoted side Prince of Wales at Staverton Park (ko 11am).
