Parkinson says he would prefer to finish the BetVictor Southern League campaign but knows that is looking increasingly unlikely as each week goes by.

Parkinson said: “We’ve got nine games left and I would love us to finish the season and not just for us but for clubs like Halesowen who are having an outstanding one.

“I know that’s going to be very difficult but I would prefer that to the suggestion that the final placings will be decided on a points-per-game basis, that doesn’t sit right with me.

“From what I can gather, the final decision on every league will come from the very top. The FA will decide what is going to happen and leagues further down the pyramid will just have to accept that.

“It would be better that way rather than individual leagues taking decisions which would upset some clubs regarding promotion and relegation. It appears the Southern League made a decision and have since back-tracked on it, so it’s much better to leave it to the FA.”
