Rob Page is predicting a busy transfer deadline day for the Cobblers as he looks to bring in two more players before the 11pm cut-off point.

It’s already been a hectic summer at Northampton with changes in personnel both on and off the field, but Page isn’t done yet and he is still hopeful of adding a couple more faces to complete his squad.

“We’d like another couple in,” he said. “It’ll depend on other clubs and what we can do but if we can, we’ll get a couple in.

“We definitely, definitely need one more in the building so we’re working hard at the minute to get that done.

“It’s going to be a busy day.”

In terms of outgoings, Page’s mind on some players may have been made up by Tuesday’s disappointing 3-0 home defeat to Wycombe Wanderers when several fringe players failed to impress.

When asked if there’s likely to be any exits, the Cobblers boss said: “We want to strengthen the squad and to do that we might have to make changes.

“If we have enquiries and phone calls, of course I’ll listen to them and answer them in the right way.

“I’ve got to speak to the individuals first but if there’s business to be done, we want to improve the squad and improve the football club and Tuesday has certainly given us food for thought.

“I gave some players an opportunity to show what they can do and some have taken it and others haven’t and that’s what is disappointing.”
