The match will take place at Sixfields in the week commnecing August 5.

The meeting will be only the fifth between the clubs that are separated by just 22 miles and a county border.

Town’s JPT win last season was the first they had managed, with the other three meetings - one in the JPT and two in league one - all going the way of MK.

The draw means the Cobblers have now been handed seven successive home draws in all cup competitions.

The last time they were drawn away was an FA Cup first round tie at Luton Town in 2011, which was lost and proved to be Gary Johnson’s final game in charge.
