The right-back has not played since sustaining a serious knee injury in the 3-0 win at Wimbledon in September 2011 and although he has made a complete recovery from that injury, his services will not be retained.

Nana, alongside Wolves left-back Jamie Reckord, was one of the first players brought to Northampton by Gary Johnson two years ago and he made 17 appearances for the club before being hurt.

And with the player unlikely to feature for the first team this season, his Town career appears to be over.

“I’ve spoken to Nana about his future and we won’t be offering him a contract for next year,” said manager Aidy Boothroyd.

“We’re a different club now to the one that he joined.

“He’s always got a smile on face and he always works extremely hard.

“Hopefully we can get him organised and help him find something somewhere else.”
