The left-back has seen his place in the starting line-up taken by Tom Newey for the past two games but could come into contention against the Hatters.

“He (Horwoowd) is still tight and he’s having treatment but he is a possibility for Saturday,” confirmed first-team manager Chris Wilder.

Sheffield United loanee Diego De Girolamo will be available despite playing for the Italian under-20s side against Switzerland in Lecco this week.

But Wilder remains without Marc Richards, who is due to come out of the surgical boot which is protecting his injured Achilles next week, and Kaid Mohamed, whose recovery at St George’s Park this week has included running on an anti-gravity treadmill.

Ian Morris and Ben Tozer continue to rehabilitate their knee injuries in the gym, while there may be a place on the bench for Lewis Hornby after his 20 minutes for the reserves on Monday.

Luton will be without Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu (hamstring), Mark Tyler (knee), Jonathan Smith (leg) and Nathan Doyle (knee), but loan striker Elliot Lee is confident he will overcome a hip flexor problem to be available.
