Former Celtic winger Paddy McCourt is set to play for Peterborough United in their pre-season friendly against the Cobblers at Sixfields on Saturday (ko 3pm).

The Northern Ireland international is on trial at London Road having been released by the Hoops, and will play a part in the match at Sixfields.

Joe Newell, who suffered a dead leg at the One Call Stadium, is unlikely to be involved.

Posh manager Darren Ferguson told www.theposh.com: “It will be a good test for us, just as Mansfield was on Wednesday.

“I am sure there will be a competitive edge as it is a local derby and it is a good game for us.”

Peterborough have sold close to 200 tickets in advance for the friendly fixture.
