Peterborough United’s Shaun Brisley and Queens Park Rangers right-back Darnell Furlong have been brought in to bolster the Town squad, and both could start this weekend.

With Brendan Moloney, Zander Diamond and Evan Horwood all out injured and loanee Adam Yates also sent back to Port Vale after suffering a thigh strain, Wilder has found his options in defence limited.

Youngsters Josh Lelan and Rod McDonald have found themselves thrown into the first team firing line and have at times struggled, so Wilder has decided to bring in some fresh faces.

Brisley is 25 and has made 219 senior starts in his career, as well as making 23 substitute appearances.

The 6ft 2in central defender began his career at Macclesfield, making 134 appearances for the Silkmen, before making the switch to London Road in 2012.

Brisley has played 79 times for Posh, but has found starts difficult to come by since the turn of the year, making just one league start since February 17.

His only start this season came in a 4-1 defeat to Charlton Athletic in the Capital One Cup, with his two league appearances for Posh this campaign seeing him come off the bench in defeats to Sheffield United and Burton Albion.

Furlong is highly-rated at QPR, and made three starts under Chris Ramsey as the Hoops were relegated from the Premier League last season.

He made his debut in a 2-1 defeat at Hull City, before playing against Arsenal at Loftus Road and Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Furlong, who is the son of former Chelsea and QPR striker Paul, has seen his first team opportunities limited this season, playing just once in the Rs’ Capital One League Cup defeat to Carlisle United.

He was named on the bench for the west London’s club’s most recent Sky Bet Championship match, a 1-0 win at Huddersfield Town, but has been allowed to go on loan to get valuable match experience.
