Adams relishing testing times for the Cobblers

Town are flying high at the moment and they go to Luton Town on Saturday (ko 3pm) aiming to secure their seventh straight win in all competitions.

A 10,000 crowd is expected for a match where the two clubs are only separated by a 30-mile stretch of the M1, and a week later Sky Bet League Two big guns Portsmouth travel to Sixfields.

Then there are the Christmas and New Year fixtures against York, Accrington and Barnet, before the little matter of an FA Cup third round tie against Milton Keynes Dons.

Every game seems to be a big game for the Cobblers at the moment, the players and supporters are loving every minute, and Adams just wants that to continue.

“We went to Coventry and the following we took there was unbelievable, and it has just gone on and on,” said the playmaker.

“The fans have travelled everywhere with us, even to Crawley on a Tuesday night, and I just think when you look at the games it is exciting.

“Luton on Saturday is going to be a packed house, it’ll be the same here against Pompey the week after, and it is a busy time.

“It is a busy time and if you can pick wins up and get food results then you are in with a real chance.”

One of the secrets to the Cobblers’ success so far this season has been the team’s work ethic, and Adams says there is going to be no let-up on that front.

“We know it will be hard and there are some tough games coming up,” said the former Bury man.

“Accrington are on a good run, York away will be tough, and there are no gimmes in this league.

“We know we are going to have to be on it, and that is one thing this team has.

“We are together, we work hard and we are honest lads. We have a bit of everything, we can grind it out, we can work hard, we can dominate, and from all over the pitch we have threats.

“There is no-one going around shouting how good we are, and the gaffer and Knilly instil it in us to just go about our business nice and quietly.

“You see it on the pitch that we work hard, we did that last Saturday (against Northwich) and pulled the result out of the bag, and it is a great thing to have.

“On other days we haver played really well and not won, and now we have that bit of both to our game.

“When we play well we are dominating teams, and when we don’t play as well, as was the case on Saturday, we are able to grind out results.

“Over the season that is a good thing to have.”
