1997 goal hero Frain would love Cobblers fans to pack out Wembley again

Town have so far sold more than 21,000 tickets for the trip to Wembley to take on the Bantams, but it is hoped that number will increase significantly over the next couple of days.

Tickets can now be purchased in person from the Sixfields box office, and Frain is urging any fans that are still undecided about travelling to north London to do so, as it makes a huge difference to the players.

An estimated 32,000 Cobblers fans were inside Wembley on May 24, 1997, and were all at the end of the stadium that Frain hammered home the stoppage time free-kick that secured a famous 1-0 win over Swansea City.

That victory sealed the Cobblers’ promotion from Nationwide League Division Three.

And Frain says it would be great if the Cobblers fans pack the stadium out again as Aidy Boothroyd’s class of 2013 attempt to again climb up to the third tier of English football.

“It means so much to the players to see so many fans there, and after the game as well,” said Frain.

“We had a fantastic day and night, and then on the Monday we had the open-top bus parade back in Northampton, and the amount of people than turned out for that was breathtaking.

“It was almost as breathtaking as the amount that turned out to watch us play in the final.

“It was an amazing turnout from the fans, and we had a fantastic few days that I will never forget.”

Until now, tickets for Saturday’s game had only been available online through Ticketmaster, but now they are on sale from the Sixfields box office.

Prices range from £26 through to £60, with concessions (aged 16 and under and aged 65 and over) half price.

The final tickets are on general sale from the main box office at the ground (maximum 9 per person) with the following opening hours:

Noon-5pm Tuesday

10am-6pm Wednesday

10am-8pm Thursday

Tickets are priced as follows: Category 5 £26, £13 concessions; Category 4 £32, £16 concessions; Category 3 £38, £19 concessions; Category 2 £48, £24 concessions; Category 1 £60, £30 concessions

There will be no telephone or online sales.

All sales will be in person from Sixfields.

There will be no further sales from Sixfields beyond 8pm Thursday, as tickets need to be returned to Wembley Stadium on Friday.

Each ticket purchased from Sixfields will attract a £2.50 plus VAT booking fee (per ticket).
