Town boss Chris Wilder is delighted to tie down the deal to keep Martin until May, but also revealed that Alfie Potter is still struggling to shake off his troublesome rib injury.

Former Manchester United trainee Martin arrived at Sixfields on a month’s loan earlier on January 15, but his stay has now been extended to the end of the current campaign.

“It seems like Alfie Potter may be out a little longer than we originally expected,” said Wilder.

“Lee has definitely impressed in his time with us, so we are pleased he will be staying until the end of the season.

“I think everyone has seen the quality he has in the two games he has played, and the depth and options he gives us.

“Not only has he performed well on the pitch, he has settled in well in the dressing room, which is important, and we are pleased to extend his loan.”
