Long Buckby have endured another difficult week, suffering two defeats in the space four days.
On Saturday they were well beaten 4-1 at AFC Rushden & Diamonds in the UCL Premier Division, and then on Tuesday night went down 1-0 at Kempston Rovers in the League KO Cup.
Kempston’s win was their fifth in a row - and came courtesy of Scott Joseph’s goal fter 63 minutes - while Rushden’s was their sixth on the spin in all competitions.
It took just four minutes for Diamonds to take the lead, former Buckby striker Russ Dunkley heading in a Matt Gearing corner.
The advantage was doubled after 18 minutes, Sean McBride volleying in.
Lance Allen got on the end of a long ball to put Buckby back in the contest seven minutes before half time, and it wasn’t until the closing stages that Diamonds sealed victory.
Aaron King scored the third after 83 minutes with Gearing completing the scoring a minute into stoppage time.
This Saturday, Buckby are back on home soil at Station Road when they take on Sleaford.
It will be a good chance for Phil Mason’s men to get back on the victory trail, as the Lincolnshire side are a place and two points behind Bucks.
They also go into the game having been beaten twice this week, going down 2-0 to Kempston on Saturday and then 3-2 to Harborough Town on Tuesday.
