Long Buckby face their toughest test of the season to date when they travel to 100 per centers Spalding in the UCL Premier Division on Saturday.
It will be the second time in the space of five days that the Bucks will have travelled to the home of the UCL leaders, with Phil Mason’s men having won 2-1 at then top dogs Cogenhoe United on Tuesday.
That result ensured the Cooks dropped from the summit, and they were replaced by Spalding who have won all five of their league games to date.
Their latest triumph was a comfortable 3-0 win over Desborough Town on Tuesday, and Mason’s men are going to have their work cut out to get anything from Saturday’s trip.
That said, Buckby will be boosted by their performance on Tuesday as they claimed their third win of the season thanks to goals from Howard Forinton and Joe Power, with Cogenhoe’s reply coming from former Northampton Town man Courtney Herbert.
The win lifted Bucks up to seventh in the table, and Mason will be slightly frustrated that his team were beaten 1-0 at Kempston on Saturday, as a win there would have seen his team now second in the table.
