DAVENTRY Town Ladies FC moved into second place in the East Midlands Premier Division after two fine wins on the bounce.
Firstly away to Rise Park Daventry could only get 11 players due to injuries. They showed great team spirit as they held strong as a defensive unit and hit the home side on the break to lead 1-0 at half-time through a 20-yard strike from Lauren Roberts.
Lauren then added to her goal tally in the second-half to give the town a 3-0 advantage.
Tiredness crept in and the lack of subs showed as the home side came back into the game and peppered the town goal. Daventry held strong to win 3-2.
On Sunday The Town entertained an energetic Shepshed Dynamo but did not take long to control the game.
They demonstratd an ability to move the ball quickly and maintain a strong defensive foundation.
Daventry opened the scoring with an impressive team goal finished off by Zoe Haddon.
Lauren Roberts added to her two the week before to give the home side a 2-0 advantage at the break.
In the second-half Daventry continued where they left off. Kerry Luckett added two to her name as she moved to 11 league goals for the season.
Kelly Worthington and Charlotte Copland rounded off the scoring.
The team attacked and defended well with centre-back Erika Mole winning her fifth player of the match award in the 6-2 victory.
Next week Daventry travel to Roade for the Northamptonshire County Cup round two.
