DAVENTRY Town Ladies beat Mansfield in a top-of-the-table clash on Sunday to win the East Midlands Premier Division title.
The Town went into the game full of confidence following their county cup triumph, but were slow to start and found themselves 1-0 down after 10 minutes.
Daventry equalised on 43 minutes after Laura Shaw tracked 60 yards to win the ball and then released Kerry Luckett to place the ball into the top corner from 18 yards.
A minute later the Town had taken the lead from a corner, Erika Mole flicking the ball on for Luckett to add her second.
Daventry made it 3-1 as Luckett chipped the keeper. Erika Mole, Laura Coulson, Emily Taylor and Laura Shaw were dominant at the back.
It was soon 4-1 as Luckett was fouled in the penalty area. Kelly Worthington stepped up and smashed the ball into the bottom corner.
Mansfield rallied and struck from 25 yards with the ball flying into the top corner.
Their joy was short lived when Sarah Muttitt stormed through the midfield and placed the ball past the advancing keeper to give the Town a 5-2 victory to secure the league title, alongside their league and cup double and consecutive promotions.
Up next is Midland Combination football, with Northampton Town, Leicester City and Stoke City coming to Daventry.
