The Town attacker pulled up in the build up to James Collins’ goal in the first half of Tuesday night’s win at Plymouth, and manager Chris Wilder has confirmed he won’t be fit for this weekend.

“Lawson has a groin strain so I am sure he will miss Saturday,” said Wilder, who was talking to the media ahead of training on Thursday.

“It is disappointing because Lawson has done well for us this season, and last year, but I thought Nicky Adams’ performance when he went on to the pitch on Tuesday was great.

“Ricky Holmes gave us another lively performance yet again, especially second half, and we have Sam Hoskins as well, so we will deal with that and put a side out that wants to go and win a game of football.”

On the plus side, Alfie Potter, who hasn’t featured since the 1-0 win over Accrington on December 28 due to a rib complaint, is expected to be available.

Potter had been pencilled to travel to Devon for the midweek top-of-the-table clash, but it was decided not to risk him.

“We will wait on Alfie as he didn’t feel right to travel for the Plymouth game,” said Wilder.

“We didn’t want to take a risk with him so we will wait and see, but I believe he is training today (Thursday) and hopefully there will be no reaction tomorrow and he will be involved on Saturday.”
