Foster and assistant manager Neil Champelovier left following Saturday’s 5-0 Evo-Stik Northern Premier League defeat by Kidsgrove Athletic.

It was Town’s 13th consecutive defeat in Division One South at Communications Park where the management team have called it a day after a troubled time on and off the field.

After just three minutes captain Ricky Hill slipped on the wet surface and the ball was quickly passed to Joseph Wooley who was left with the easiest of tap-ins. Six minutes later Wooley provided the cross for the unmarked Nick Wellecomme to head home.

Daventry have found their attacking options increasingly difficult as their season has progressed and they had just two serious shots on goal in the first 45 minutes. Adam Confue shot wide and Jon Bukasa curl a shot over the bar.

Hill thwarted Anthony Malbon just as he was about to shoot but he was unable to prevent the Kidsgrove skipper increasing his side’s lead one minute before the break. Malbon forced his way past a couple of defenders before rolling the ball over the line.

Foster made a couple of early substitutions in the second half, on came the impressive Jet Esso for Dan Childs and Karabo Motshweni replaced Kieran Fitzgerald.

But Kidsgrove added two more goals. Lewis Bergin’s 55th minute free-kick beat Ben Heath and a miscued clearance from Hill in the 70th minute saw Malbon comfortably beat Heath to claim his brace.

Heath punched a thunderous volley from full back Tom Morris over his bar then palmed an excellent overhead kick from substitute Christopher Boast over as Kidsgrove looked for a sixth goal.
