Daventry Drayton Grange moved a step closer to clinching the Northants Combination League Division One title with a 5-0 thrashing of promotion rivals Weedon.
Weedon are one of Grange’s main challengers, but they were swept aside with ease.
Leigh Roberts led the way with two goals for Grange, while there were singles for Darren Taylor, Chris Trill and Michael Fielding.
The win means Grange stay in second spot behind leaders Clipston, but they will surely have no trouble overhauling the current three-point gap with their six games in hand.
Weedon, who stay fifth, are still genuine promotion contenders despite the weekend defeat.
In division two, West Haddon Albion slipped to a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Grange Park, despite a goal from Pete Larkin.
In reserve division one, Weedon scored three times in their clash at Earls Barton, but it wasn’t enough for any reward as they were beaten 4-3.
On target for the villagers were Matt Farrell with two, and Adam Smith.
Like their first team, Drayton Grange Reserves are on course for title glory in reserve division two.
They were handsome 8-2 winners at Harpole on Saturday, with Nic Tomes the star man with a hat-trick.
There were also singles for Connor Pittam, Dean Townsend, Charlie Wright, Ian Biart and Daniel Brace.
The win sees Grange remain in second place in the table, six points adrift of leaders Desborough & Rothwell, but they do still have four games in hand.
