Double blow hits Town's title push

The division one leaders go there on the back of a comfortable victory over Stewarts & Lloyds Corby but it came at a cost.

Jordan Orosz and Elliot Lamb-Johnson both picked up serious injuries in Saturday’s 4-1 victory at Communications Park. And joint manager Arron Parkinson said the home dressing room had an empty feeling about it after the game.

Parkinson said: “We won the game but it never really got going due to the circumstances. Stewarts & Lloyds have an honest, hardworking group of players who never stopped competing.

“After the game the changing room was a little flat due to the two serious injuries. Jordan Orosz has had a fine season and then we lost Elliot Lamb-Johnson.

“Due to the extent of the injury and complications, his operation won’t take place till the end of the week to pin his leg. All the players, staff and supporters wish both players a speedy recovery and hopefully we will see them back in a Daventry shirt soon.

“I said the performance wasn’t as important at this stage of the season and Saturday was certainly the case. The injuries had a part to play but we didn’t move the ball quickly enough at times which led to a disjointed team performance.

“But we ran out comfortable winners and I was pleased for Scott Sandy, he has been very patient since signing for us. Ross Harris has regained his form which will be crucial for the run-in and Stan Forskitt put in an accomplished on his full debut.

“This Saturday we visit Bugbrooke St Michaels and that will have a big say in who goes on to lift the title. We go there in good spirits and on a good run of form and, as long as we defend correctly from front to back, I’m confident we can get something from the game.

“Bugbrooke have to win the game to have any chance of winning the league so the emphasis is on them to take the game to us.”
