Northampton Town will make the trip up north to face Premier League giants Newcastle United for what promises to be a tantalising second round clash in the Capital One Cup.
The tie, which will take place at St James’ Park during the week commencing Monday, August 24, means the Cobblers will face Ivan Toney less than a month after the teenager left Sixfields for the Magpies.
Northampton made it through to the second round thanks to a 3-0 win over Blackpool, while Newcastle were automatically entered into this stage of the draw.
The two clubs have met 10 times before with United winning the last clash between the two in the 1987 FA Cup third round.
The Cobblers were unseeded for the second round draw and therefore could only face sides from the Premier League or Championship.
