Cobblers handed Barnsley trip in EFL Cup first round


Rob Page’s team, who are in the northern section of the competition, will travel to south Yorkshire in the week beginning Monday, August 8.
Barnsley were promoted to the second tier of English football via the play-offs, beating Millwall in the final at Wembley last month.

Hide AdThe draw means the Cobblers will be on the road for three of their first four matches in the opening 11 days of the new season.
The Sky Bet League One fixtures were released on Wednesday morning, and after an opening day home match against Fleetwood on August 6, the Cobblers face trips to Charlton Athletic on August 13 and Oldham Athletic on August 16.
