Cobblers boss Wilder: '˜Nobody will be leaving'

Cobblers boss Chris Wilder says '˜nobody will be leaving' Sixfields in the final few days of the January transfer window - unless a club comes in with a ridiculous offer for one of his star men.

Town are flying high in Sky Bet League Two, level on points with leaders Plymouth Argyle, and Wilder only has his sights on finishing the job and winning promotion.

That means he won’t be allowing anybody out of the Sixfields door in the next few days, unless ‘the price is right’, and the financial future of the club then has to be taken into account.

Every player in the current Cobblers squad was brought to the club by Wilder, and he is clear he wants to keep all of them.

The likes of Adam Smith, Nicky Adams, Ricky Holmes, John-Joe O’Toole, Lawson D’Ath, Marc Richards and others are all enjoying fantastic seasons and will be on the radar of other clubs, but the Town boss says they are going nowhere.

“Nobody will be leaving, it would be mad for that to happen, unless, and we know how football works, somebody comes in and goes ‘bang - there’s a big offer’,” said the Cobblers boss.

“One of the things we have talked about, and one of the things we have done over the past two years is that we have added assets to the football club, and there are a lot of players in our group that are coveted by other clubs.

“But I don’t want anybody to leave.

“We have worked hard to put this group together to get in the position we are, but I think we all understand the name of the game at league two and league one level, or even at any level.

“If the price is right, and it is a big, big offer, then we have to be sensible and realistic, but nothing has happened so far, and hopefully nothing will happen.”
