GOING into the last game of the season in the Daventry Soccersixes Wednesday league, all the talk was on who would take the second place position.

Having already secured the championship, Real Daventry’s (pictured) last game saw them defeat Daventry Olympic in a tough match ending 2-1. There were two great goals to end their season from Richard Rogers.

The two teams battling for second played off against each other. Both Coach and Horses and Pen Island started off well with each team managing to score one.

Going into the second-half it was all square and it was starting to look like goal difference would settle it.

But two inspirational goals from captain Kevin Moore put the game past Coach and Horses with the match ending 3-1.

As Real Daventry will not be continuing due to university commitments, the battle for the championship this season will be something to look out for.

With the new season starting in just one week, Soccersixes are on the look out for new teams wishing to join the league.
