Cobblers attacker Ricky Holmes has handed in a transfer request.
The exciting midfielder has been the subject of transfer speculation throughout the summer, with several clubs believed to be in the hunt for his signature.
The Cobblers are determined to try and hold on to the 28-year-old and have rejected offers from an unnamed club for the player.
But chairman Kelvin Thomas has admitted the Holmes’s transfer request is ‘a game changer’.
The players has one year left on his Sixfields contract so will command a fee, and Thomas has made it clear that if he is to go, then Holmes will not be leaving on the cheap.
“We have rejected offers because we don’t want to lose Ricky, however his request is a bit of a game changer,” said Thomas.
“We will continue discussions over the next few days with both Ricky and the club concerned.
“Both understand that if anything is going to happen then the club’s valuation will need to be met.”
