Gloucestershire were given a good thumping last Friday to the tune of 41 runs at the County Ground and although a ten-game group schedule leaves room for some margin of error, White was pleased to get a positive number in the win column so early.

He said: “It was nice to get off the mark and I think that it was very important that we started with a win.

“We wanted to go into this weekend’s games with a win to our name and hopefully that will give us some momentum for the Warwickshire game on Friday.”

White, who is on a month’s loan from parent club Nottinghamshire, made his home debut against the Gladiators and took the man-of-the match award for his spell of 4-14 from three tight overs.

And he looking for more of the same this weekend, firstly against the Bears and then in Sunday afternoon’s trip to Taunton.

He continued: “I’m glad that I was able to contribute with the ball on Friday and that the team played so well.

“We’ve been playing some good one-day cricket and we need to keep doing the same in our next couple of games.”

There has been some talk of White’s loan being extended further into the competition - he is on a 24-hour recall clause - but he says that nothing has been agreed as of yet.

“I’m enjoying it here and am pleased that I’ve got the opportunity to play some games but I’ve not sat down with Notts for a proper chat.

“I’m contracted to them and it will depend on how Mick (Newell, Notts’ cricket manager) sees things.”

Steelbacks play host to Warwickshire Bears at the County Ground on Friday (start 6.30pm) before travelling to Taunton to take on Somerset on Sunday.
