Peters wants a part of a ‘massive’ six games

The club captain made his comeback from a broken finger this week when he turned out for the Second XI in their friendly against a Scotland Development side at the County Ground and he expects to be fit for the visit of Gloucestershire next Friday.

Having missed 10 weeks of the campaign, the opener is itching to return to the competitive fold for what he knows will be an intense finale to the year.

He said: “We all know that it will be a massive six games for us.

“We’re in a great position just behind Lancashire but the division has tightened up a bit in the past couple of weeks with other sides winning and it’s going to be hard work.

“But I’m confident that we can make a real push for a promotion place.”

Twin defeats to the current leaders have put a slight spanner in the works but Peters believes that with a few injuries healing, his side will be primed to maintain what has been an impressive season so far.

He continued: “We should have (Steven) Crook and (Andrew) Hall back for next week, Trent (Copeland) is coming back for three games and there is a chance that Rob Newton could be fit again for the last three or four games and all of those will make us a lot stronger.

“We knew that there would be a few bumps in the road and we’ve struggled a bit in the past couple of games but how we finish is definitely in our hands and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in again.”
