NORTHANTS CRICKET LEAGUE: All-rounder White gets ONs back on track as Stony are beaten

Following their surprise defeat the previous week to Horton House, ONs were back to their best as Stony Stratford were beaten by seven wickets at Billing Road.

The home side were always on top of the game as they reduced Stony to 117 all out, with White claiming six for 36 and Richard Kaufman two for one.

For Stony, the only batsman who could hold his head high was Hayden Mullins who scored 62.

White then led ONs’ charge with the bat, scoring 47 from 51 balls as they eased to 118 for three in 26.2 overs, Zaakir Khawaja making 26 and Dan Harris 20 not out.

Stony’s Kevin Wijesinghe could at least enjoy his evening as he took three for 22 from five overs, including the prize scalp of Northants and England Lions star David Willey, who was playing for ONs as a batsman only.

Rushden’s excellent start to life back in the Premier continued as they cruised to a third straight victory.

Their victims were Northampton Saints who were on the wrong end of a 118-run defeat.

In pursuit of the visitors’ 231, Saints were dismissed for just 113 as Simon Branston registered figures of six for 47.

Earlier, former Northants batter Christian Davis (66) and current County man Rob Keogh (74) had dominated proceedings after Rushden had been put in to bat.

Mark Wolstenholme was comfortably the pick of the home attack with five for 55.

Another side with a 100 per cent record are Finedon Dolben who saw off Oundle by 90 runs at Avenue Road.

The home side recovered from 29 for five to post a total of 151 (Bash Hussain 4-42, Harry Ramsden 4-43) but this proved to be more than enough as Oundle were skittled for a paltry 61, losing all 10 wickets for just 32 with Chris Goode taking four for 13.

Horton claimed their third win in as many outings as they infliced a third straight defeat on Wollaston.

Steve Finch snared five for 20 as Wollaston were restricted to 146 for nine and Horton then reached their target with three wickets in hand.

Defending champions Peterborough put a positive number in their win column as they thrashed struggling Brixworth by 159 runs.

Rob Sayer top scored with 71 as the hosts were bowled out for 206 (Alex Lacey 5-33).

But Brixworth were never in the hunt in the reply as they were dismissed for a dismal 47 with nobody reaching double figures.

Paul McMahon did the damage with four for 17.

Rushton recorded a four-wicket win at Burton Latimer to get their campaign up and running.

Daniel Bird made 52 and Scott Sanders 66 as Burton posted 217 (Jonathon Carpenter 4-44) but this was passed in the 52nd over as Andy Reynoldson, returning to a former club, hit a match-winning 88.
