NCL ROUND-UP: Skipper Webb has Saints in a tangle

Afaq Babar was the pick of the ONs attack, claiming four for 40, while Jordan Capel chipped in with two for 44.

But overhauling the target was to prove a walk in the park for ONs as skipper Tom Webb hit 95 not out and Zaakir Khawaja an unbeaten 79 took them to 206 without loss and a resounding win inside 40 overs.

It was also derby day at Denton Road, where Horton House drew with Brixworth.

Horton made a valiant attempt to get the win, but they had to settle for a share of the spoils on 201 for eight.

Steven Jarvis top scored with 53, while other notable contributions came from Andrew Morrison (38) and Andrew Neate (24).

Brixworth strived hard for the two wickets they needed for the win, but failed despite the efforts of Ross McLean (3-43) and Stuart Bonthuys (2-55).

Wollaston maintained their excellent form as they eased past Burton Latimer by 55 runs.

The 30-points gained pushed Chris Perry’s side into second place in the table, 30 behind leaders Finedon who were held to a draw by Stony Stratford.

At London Road, Mark Ralph and Liam Bates, with scores of 64 and 67 respectively, led the hosts to 224 for five before they declared with four overs remaining.

Steve Musgrave then took over with his off-spin snaring him six for 53 as Burton were dismissed for 169 in the 46th over.

At Campbell Park, Stony continued their good month of June with another solid draw.

Greig Hofbauer’s unbeaten 94 was the main contribution in Finedon’s 235 for five but although they allowed themsleves an extra four overs, the hosts held firm to close on 147 for seven, Chris Goode taking three for 36.

The local derby between Oundle and Peterborough at Milton Road went emphatically in the way of the visitors who raced to a nine-wicket victory.

Ajaz Akhtar and Paul McMahon took three wickets apiece as Oundle mustered an under par 131 and this total was put in to context once Asim Butt got going.

The former Pakistan Under-19 international thrashed 103 in only 71 balls as the defending champions romped home with more than 31 overs in hand.

Andy Reynoldson returned to form as Rushton notched their first win of the campaign against Wellingborough at Redwell Road.

The left-hander made an unbeaten 108 in the visitors’ 283 for four with Ben Mansell and Marc Jackson weighing in with 73 and 70 respectively.

James Howes made a rapid 75 in the reply but their was little other resistance as Jackson and Tom Collett, with three wickets each, helped bowl them out for 138.
