NCL ROUND-UP: Northants man Crook takes six of the best as Brixworth stun Finedon

Crook has been left out of the County’s current LV= Championship Division One clash against Middlesex after suffering a loss of form.

And he decided to get some playing action in at Northampton Road, and proved to be the difference, especially with the ball in hand.

Brixworth were bowled out for a modest looking 145, with Fred Newborough making 50 and Alex Lacey 40, while Crook chipped in with 25.

Finedon would have fancied their chances of chasing that target down, and when they were 57 for one it looked a certainty.

But Crook proved to be in potent form as he claimed six for 49 from 10 overs and Dolben were dismissed for just 85. losing their final nine wickets for 28 runs!

Colin Sibley backed up Crook by taking three for 28.

Leo Carter was the ton-up star as Horton House maintained their 100 per cent record by beating Stony Stratford by seven wickets.

Carter hit an unbeaten 105 and Charlie MacDonnell 60 not out as leaders House eased past Stony’s 193 for nine.

Earlier, Stony’s innings had been held together by Hayden Mullins who scored 56, while Edward Tate added 31.

MacDonnell and Andrew Neate both snared three wickets for Horton.

Wollaston opened their account with a three-wicket defeat of struggling Saints.

Only Mark Wolstenhome (46) and Jack Mousley (38) made an impression as the Saints were bowled out for 160 and Steve Musgrave them hit 45 as the home side won with more than 20 overs to spare.

Wolstenholme and Corbyn Dolley both claimed two wickets for Saints, who have now lost three of their opening four fixtures.

Rushton had few difficulties as they downed Old Northamptonians by a 70-run margin.

Ben Mansell (72) and Dan Bendon (56) steered Rushton to 255 for seven, and although Rob White scored 86, to go with his earlier four for 64, the ONs could only manage 185.

David Willey also turned out for ONs, but was dismissed for 22.

Burton Latimer lost their fourth straight game as they went down to Oundle by 79 runs at Milton Road.

They did the first part of the job with some success as Oundle were skittled for just 138 with George Groenland and Damien Paul taking three wickets apiece.

But their batting didn’t back this up as they slumped to 20-7, eventually succumbing for 59 with Bashrat Hussain taking 5-7.

Rushden’s good form hasn’t relented as they had the better of a draw with Peterborough.

County batsman Rob Keogh’s comeback continued to gather pace as he hit 87 and Ben Paine weighed in with 57 as Rushden totalled 239, Paul McMahon the pick of the Boro’ attack with five for 51.

Asim Butt scored 58 in the reply but it fell short on 207 for nine as the Rushden attack kept them in check.
