Graeme White felt everything clicked for him and Northants Steelbacks in their superb 76-run success against Lancashire Lightning on Wednesday night.

White claimed six for 37 as Lightning fell apart in their bid to surpass the Steelbacks’ 287 for eight, in which Ben Duckett had blasted 98.

It was Northants’ first victory in this season’s Royal London One-Day Cup as they bounced back from Monday’s opening-night defeat at Nottinghamshire Outlaws.

And White was delighted with how his team performed at the County Ground.

The left-arm spinner said: “It was a very good night and we’re very pleased with that performance.

“We were put into bat and that’s what we wanted to do on that wicket because we thought if we got a good total, like we did, that we’d back our spinners and seamers to defend it.

“It was quite comfortable in the end.

“The bowling has been coming out quite nicely for the past few months and we’ve not had much luck, but you’ve got to stick with it.

“You have days where you think you’re bowling really well and you get hit all over the place and then you turn up on a day like today and it all clicks.

“We’re just pleased with the win. We put up a great fight at Trent Bridge on Monday and it’s great to come home and do that.

“We were missing a couple of big players in Rory (Kleinveldt) and Richard (Levi) so it was a very good performance.”
